Fiona Hayvice (Ultra Trail Runner)

"For as long as I can remember my preferred mode of transport has been foot. Growing up on a farm I herded stock, and we spent many hours exploring bush tracks and the coastline that bordered our property. If it’s not a black tie event, then it's common practice for me to show up in my runners with a slight bead on my forehead. More recently, I've applied my passion for running to compete in ultra-marathons. A major draw card is the opportunity to explore locations that are typically off-limits e.g. traversing 250km across Asia’s largest desert, the Gobi in northwestern China over a period of seven days.
One of the most valuable lessons I have taken from endurance events is that a lack of natural ability can be compensated with dedication and discipline. Training counts; so, come rain or shine I'll be out there leaving only footprints, and experiencing the world from a totally different angle than most people."

Blair McWhirter (Rapid Road Runner)

I have been consistently running for a decade with a main focus as a marathon runner. Earlier in my career I was heavily involved in Multisport. Overseas travel forced me to

refocus and reduce my carry around luggage. The running shoes were kept and it has been the major focus since. I am a teacher at an intermediate school in Christchurch.

Teaching has been very good to me and I have been lucky to live in many different countries many of which I have run races in.  Now slightly more settled in Christchurch

(since late 2017) I am enjoying re-establishing myself as a consistent and successful performer around the road running scene in New Zealand.

Chris Dunell (Trail Runner)

My name is Chris Dunell, I'm 29 years old and live in Christchurch. I am a Police Officer currently attached to the Youth Crime Unit. 'Inspiring troubled youth and reducing crime'.

For me a balanced life is essential; altruism, friends/family and inspiring others to create healthier lifestyles through nutrition and running is what it looks like behind life's curtain.

My happy place: Enjoying the primitive motion of running in the mountains. "If it came from a plant, eat it; if it is made in a plant, Don't!"  :)
